How Fishing Bait is Helpful

The magnet system in turn is faster from throw to throw adjustable and is at the front of special throws. Both have their justification. Head wind, fishing bait weight and flight characteristics of a lure (susceptibility to wind) significantly influence the attitude. No matter which brake system a Bait caster role ultimately has - each model also has a second, so-called mechanical brake. The round cap behind the star brake is the mechanical brake or rather its regulation. If you turn this knob, a pin is pressed more or less strongly on the coil and brakes it in addition.

The mechanical brake of a Bait cast role (star brake)

The star-shaped wheel next to or on the crank is the combat brake. It sets how much power a fish can use to pull the string off the reel. Another braking option in the drill, so to speak, the "emergency brake" in sudden rapid escapes and surprisingly heavy train, is the "thumb brake": Just press the freewheel button as the throw and then dosed with the thumb the coil slow down "The chrome, shiny" crossbar " above the line drum triggers the freewheel when pressed down. It is used to throw or just to release in bitter drill phases as "emergency brake" bitterly needed string and thus to prevent a broken line. Both when throwing and when "emergency braking" is controlled with the thumb on the cord drum mitgebremst.

This is how to adjust the braking system correctly

Centrifugal Brake - The side cover is opened with a special lock built into the side plate. Then the braking force is controlled by the star-shaped, adjustable pins. When pushed in, the flyweight is switched off, it is pushed out to working position. Usually 1 to 2 centrifugal weights are sufficient in working position to throw all common fishing bait weights with us. Rule of thumb:When fully filled coil 2 pins are pressed outwards with me. With a half-filled bobbin, I'll throw it outside with a pen. The mechanical brake is only tightened so far that the coil has no play laterally. The mechanical brake is set differently only in special situations such as a sudden headwind or for special throws.

Set magnetic brake

Magnetic brake reels usually do not have an easy-to-open side cover. Instead, the braking force is set via a wheel with numbers on the side cover. I find this system very practical when I want to make quick adjustments, especially in trick throws like skipping or pitching. Level 10 is full braking power, level 0 none. My most frequently used setting is between levels 5 and 6. The same applies to the mechanical brake as described for the centrifugal brake.

Note: The brakes are set correctly when the fishing bait loosely hangs down with the rod held horizontal and then slowly pulls the cord off the reel until it reaches the ground when operating the freewheel. Once the bait has reached the bottom, the cord drum should stop spinning immediately.
